The Whiston Scholarship
This scholarship was established on behalf of former Superintendent Mr. Brian Whiston. Upon his arrival in 2008, Mr. Whiston embarked on a mission to raise student achievement, improve graduation rates, provide a variety of learning opportunities, and ensure the success of all students attending Dearborn Public Schools.
One of Mr. Whiston’s goals was to create a program that would provide students with the opportunity to attain both a high school diploma and a two-year Associate Degree in only five years at no cost to the student or parent. The Collegiate Academy was the result of that goal and the first students started in the fall of 2013.
Scholarship Amount: $500
Application Criteria
-Letter of Acceptance to a College or University (meaning you must be finishing up your 5th year)
-Student must have attended the Collegiate Academy
-250 Word Essay describing what the Collegiate Academy meant to the student and their future
-Personal Letter of Reference
-Scholastic Letter of Reference
